Wild Hog Cook-Off
The 10th annual Boys & Girls Clubs of Live Oak County Wild Hog Cook Off will be held on Saturday,
February 11, 2012 at the Live Oak County Fairgrounds
on Highway 281 between Three Rivers and George West, Texas. Events begin at 10:00 am and go on all day long.
This year's cook-off features a grand prize of a grand ($1000.00) to the grand champion, $500.00 to the reserve champion, and cash prizes in all four categories - chicken, pork spare ribs, and brisket (IBCA categories) and the pork open category (any pork dish, wild or domestic). Prize money for categories is 1st - $300.00, 2nd - $200.00, 3rd - $100.00 and 4th - $25.00. All four categories will count towards grand champion.
Other events include a live auction featuring the auctioneer voted best in Texas, silent auction, basketball skills competition, 2012 Jeep Wrangler raffle and of course BBQ plates with all the fixin's.
The event layout will be the same as last year, with a 40x40 foot space for each team. In last year's cook off, 38 teams vied for the grand prize, and we expect over 50 this year. Everyone is excited to come back, and promised to bring their friends, so we expect a record number this year (must be the free shirt for the head cook). Over 150 teams all over south Texas have been invited to attend.
All proceeds from the event are given to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Live Oak County. So come out for a day of fun and cookin', bring an auction item to donate and support a worthy cause as part of one of the largest BBQ cookoffs in south Texas. See you there!
